Commissioned by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts
This installation consists of a landscape within a landscape. Modular, two-panel units made of charred wood, custom textiles with hand-blocked printing, and hidden speakers organize space like a maze through which the viewer wanders around and through. Moving throughout the installation reveals a constantly shifting sonic and visual landscape creating a non-discursive, interactive experience of the world that is always part inside, part outside, part music, part visual art, and part natural environment. In the middle of this maze of modular units is a special 4-panel unit containing a live sound performance by Shockley.
